I walked out of a department store late one evening right before dusk.  At the same time, dark threatening clouds had formed and enveloped the sky.  Before I reached my car, thunder and lightning simultaneously exploded in the sky revealing the movement of the clouds from the brisk winds, beautiful and yet unpredictable.  Back in the safety and comfort of my home, I picked up my guitar and began to write “Rollin’ Thunder.”  My intentions were to write the song about Mother Nature; her unpredictability, beauty, and the savage and destructiveness that sometimes accompanies her.  The lyrics did not at all turn out the way I had envisioned it.  I was powerless to change them, for this was what was given to me.  I’m grateful for the way it turned out and satisfied.
