Elvis Songs He Might Have Sang

How would you describe, explain, label, identify, or make reference to the incredible accomplishments that manifested itself on the journey that Elvis traveled through his life.  He revolutionized music single handily.  He was a successful screen star, and concert king of all time.  Sold more records than any other artist in the country and the list goes on and on.  I’ve seen just about every celebrity singing super star artist in concert from Mick Jagger and the Rolling Stones to Cher, Kinney Rogers, Dolly Parton, Michael Jackson, Johnny Cash, Tina Turner, Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles, and many others.  This is not to say that they were not all professional, enjoyable, and exciting, but Elvis’s concerts were a happening which were electrifying from opening moment to end, with never stopping excitement.  (Naturally, I’m speaking of Elvis before his ill fated health overcast and overshadowed his good looks, and his dynamic talent abilities.)  Elvis’s performances in concert were at a time when there was no aid of special effect equipment on stage.  It was just pure Elvis and his charismatic ability.  My opinion of Elvis is really no different than most of all the great and gifted entertainers; John Lennon, Rod Stewart, Dolly Parton, Mick Jagger, etc.  Comments I have read by them, their selves, were “there was nothing before Elvis.”  If not for Elvis, there would not have been a “Me.”  Elvis was the king, so forth and so on.  I tried to get my material to Elvis, but that was pretty much a pipe dream.  The lucky ones that did, had to abide by the Colonel’s policy of not only sharing half of the writer’s royalties, but giving Elvis half the credit for writing their song.  I would have made this concession gladly for that opportunity.  If Elvis were here today, and I had that opportunity, my offerings of music to him would be the material that is listed and that I hope you’ll give a listen to.  If you can imagine Elvis doing any of these songs, I’d appreciate a comment from you.

Thanks so much for listening,

David Repka
